I am going to have to try all this as my car 1.8 tdci is shuddering when i accelerate hope it works. I am looking for advice and experience from other drivers of a focus with the 1.8 TDCI engine. I got my focus in January of this year after a nightmare with an Audi which I thought would be able to survive the high mileage and I couldn't of been anymore wrong. On the 1.8 TDCI used in the Focus MK2/MK2.5 both the wetbelt and the chain have exactly the same service interval. Basically it does not matter if the engine has the wetbelt or the chain. Officially both needs to be changed. Despite the fact that changing the chain is described by Ford many people never replace it.

All Focus MK2/MK2.5 versions have a drive by wire throttle pedal. The throttle pedal has a position sensor (basically just a potentiometer) which is directly connected to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster converts the analog sensor signal to a digital CANbus signal and communicates this signal to the PCM.

Hi, I have a 2009 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI with 38,000 miles covered. 3,000 miles ago, at motorway speed of 70mph and having covered 60 miles, a misfire started. It became worse and the Engine Malfunction light came on. The car would only now tick over and not respond to the accelerator.
