Hanwag comes from the same lineage as Lowa boots. HANs WAGner started Hanwag in his home town of Jetzendorf Germany, just north of Munich. Hanwag is now located in Vierkirchen. His brother LOrenz WAgner started Lowa, which is still headquartered in Jetzendorf. Hanwag outsources a lot of their boot making to Croatia and Romania.

Use the lowa zephyr gtx for work. Unbelievably comfortable. Recommend a good sock like darn tough with them. Have used many different brands of boots and lowa is by far my favorite; however, I’ve never used Salomon. Optactical has a sale on lowa as well right now for 25% off. I will say the soles wear out rather fast.

I have a pair of Lowa Renegades. I like them and just consider them hiking boots. To me they don’t hold a candle to the Lowa Tibet GTX boots the Tibet’s are the best elk hunting, rough terrain boots I’ve ever owned. I waterproof all my hunting boots after I buy them and my Renegades don’t leak .

CO. Also have the same issue. Look at the old Meindl Perfekt Hunters which are now the Comfort Fit Hunters directly from Meindlusa. The even specifically call out the wider toe box "Built on the Comfort Fit last, these boots have more room in the toebox, and cup the heels snugly for a near-custom fit and feel."
All of the features in Lowa's product description work as described. The SPS wedges controlled my sever pronation. The zone lacing system and the ankle flex provided the perfect combination of stability and freedom of motion.
